Zovirax Duo Cold Sore Treatment Cream is a pharmacist-only topical cream for recurrent cold sores on the lips and face. It contains two active ingredients: aciclovir, an antiviral agent, and hydrocortisone, a mild anti-inflammatory corticosteroid.

When applied at the first signs of a cold sore recurrence, it helps reduce progression to ulcerative lesions and shorten healing time in immunocompetent adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. Pharmacist consultation may be required before supply.

• Do not apply inside the mouth, inside the nose, or to other mucous membranes.
• Do not use for genital herpes.
• Do not use in children under 12 years of age.
• Do not use if you are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir, hydrocortisone, or any of the ingredients.
• Do not use on skin lesions caused by viruses other than herpes simplex, or on fungal, bacterial, or parasitic skin infections.
• Do not use with occlusive dressings, plasters, or specialised cold sore patches.
• People who are immunocompromised should consult a doctor before using this product.
• Seek medical advice if cold sores are particularly severe, if symptoms persist, or if lesions are still present after 10 days.
• Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Contains cetostearyl alcohol and propylene glycol, which may cause local skin irritation.
• If you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances, seek medical advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Ingredients

• Active ingredients: Aciclovir 5% w/w and hydrocortisone 1% w/w
• Other ingredients: Propylene glycol, soft white paraffin, cetostearyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, poloxamer, isopropyl myristate, sodium lauryl sulphate, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid and purified water
