Rikodeine Oral Liquid 200mL is an oral cough suppressant containing dihydrocodeine tartrate 9.5mg/5mL and sorbitol. It is used for the temporary relief of a stubborn, unproductive dry cough when other treatment options are not suitable or have not been effective.

This product contains an opioid medicine and is a Schedule 3 Pharmacist Only Medicine. Pharmacist assessment may be required before supply.

• Do not use if you have severe lung disease, severe breathing problems, acute breathing problems, or respiratory depression.
• Ask your doctor or pharmacist before use if you have asthma, emphysema, COPD, kidney or liver disease, thyroid or adrenal problems, enlarged prostate, urinary tract narrowing, low blood pressure, bowel obstruction or inflammation, pancreatitis, bile duct disease, a seizure disorder, head injury, increased pressure in the head, or a history of alcohol or substance misuse.
• Check with your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, breastfeeding, or planning to breastfeed.
• Do not drink alcohol while taking Rikodeine.
• This medicine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, light-headedness, confusion, or vision problems. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected.
• Do not use with other medicines that can cause drowsiness unless advised by a healthcare professional. This includes sleeping tablets, benzodiazepines, sedating antihistamines, antidepressants, antipsychotics, gabapentinoids, cannabis, opioid pain medicines, other cough suppressants, and some medicines for nausea or vomiting.
• Do not use with monoamine oxidase inhibitor medicines, including those taken within the last 10 days, unless advised by a healthcare professional.
• Do not share this medicine with anyone else, even if their symptoms appear similar.
• If overdose is suspected, call 000 for an ambulance or contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 immediately.

Ingredients

• Active ingredients: Dihydrocodeine tartrate 9.5mg/5mL and sorbitol 2.2g/5mL
• Other ingredients: Sucrose, citric acid anhydrous, methyl hydroxybenzoate, amaranth CI16185, strawberry flavour, and water
• Contains sugars, sorbitol, and hydroxybenzoates

Storage Instructions

• Store below 30°C.
• Keep in the bottle until it is time to use.
• Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat, and sunlight.
• Do not store in the bathroom, near a sink, in the car, or on window sills.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Return unwanted or expired medicine to a pharmacy for safe disposal.
