ellaOne 30mg Tablet contains ulipristal acetate, an oral emergency contraceptive used to help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure, such as a broken condom or missed contraceptive pill. It should be taken as soon as possible and no later than 120 hours (5 days) after sex.

• Do not use if you are allergic to ulipristal acetate or any listed ingredient.
• Do not use if you know or suspect you are already pregnant.
• Emergency contraception is not effective in every case and is not suitable as a regular method of contraception.
• ellaOne does not protect against HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted infections. Condoms are needed for STI protection.
• Use a reliable barrier contraceptive method, such as condoms, until your next period.
• If you wish to start regular hormonal contraception after taking ellaOne, speak to your pharmacist or doctor. Hormonal contraception should generally be started no sooner than 5 days after taking ellaOne, with barrier contraception used until your next period.
• Speak to your pharmacist or doctor before use if your period is late, you have pregnancy symptoms, severe asthma, severe liver disease, or intolerance to some sugars.
• Some medicines may make ellaOne less effective, including certain medicines for epilepsy, HIV, bacterial infections and herbal products containing St John’s wort.
• Do not breastfeed for one week after taking ellaOne. During this time, express and discard breast milk.
• If your period is more than 7 days late, unusually light or heavy, or you have symptoms of pregnancy, perform a pregnancy test and seek medical advice.
• If you become pregnant after taking ellaOne, contact your doctor.
• This medicine may cause dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision or reduced concentration. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery.
• In case of overdose, contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 or seek medical advice.
