Periactin 4mg Tablets 100 contain cyproheptadine hydrochloride, an antihistamine with anti-allergy and anti-itch activity. It is used to treat allergies and pruritus and may also be used to relieve migraine and vascular types of headaches, when appropriate.

• Do not take if you are allergic to cyproheptadine, similar medicines, or any ingredient in this product.
• Do not use if you are breastfeeding.
• Do not use if you have angle-closure glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy, bladder neck obstruction or pyloroduodenal obstruction.
• Do not use if you are having an acute asthma attack, are elderly or debilitated, or are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor medicine.
• Ask your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, have asthma, hyperthyroidism, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, blood disorders, or other medical conditions.
• Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you take, especially medicines for anxiety, panic, sleep disorders, depression, sedatives, tranquillisers or other medicines that may cause drowsiness.
• This medicine may cause drowsiness, dizziness or reduced alertness, and drowsiness may continue the following day. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected.
• Avoid alcohol while using this medicine, as it may increase drowsiness.
• Seek medical advice if symptoms persist, worsen, or if you experience serious side effects such as difficulty breathing, hallucinations, convulsions, jaundice, urinary retention, blurred vision, fast or unusual heartbeat, or signs of allergic reaction.
• If you think you have taken too much, contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 or seek urgent medical attention.

Storage Instructions

• Keep tablets in the pack until it is time to take them.
• Store below 30°C.
• Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat and sunlight.
• Do not store in the bathroom, near a sink, in the car or on window sills.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Return expired or unwanted medicine to a pharmacy for safe disposal.
